Company History
Beginning as a custom software development company, Big Dog Communications, Inc. has grown into a valuable marketing resource for small to medium sized businesses offering a diverse line of marketing and promotional services and products.
In 1986 Peter Budraitis began work for Proto-Soft, a computer software development company. The company specialized in custom business applications for small and medium sized businesses on single-user personal computer platforms as well as mult-user systems on Unix servers. Within a year Peter purchased the company, moved it to Glen Cove and continued developing applications for a variety of industries. The applications he developed included Real Estate Rental Management, Manufacturing Inventory Control with order processing and receivables, Service Industry Billing and a number of customized accounts receivable systems.
More and more, the company took on the responsibilities of helping its clients market themselves, not only through the custom software being developed, but through other avenues of communications as well. Eventually the company transformed into a full-service marketing resource and eventually became known as Big Dog Communications. By the early 1990's, photography became a key component in the business. Later, with the progression of digital technologies and the explosive expansion of the internet, Big Dog Communications turned much of its resources towards assisting other businesses in marketing, promotion and publicity through the creation of professional collateral materials, digital photographic images and website development. Peter’s wife Nancy, contributed a strong background in professional writing, advertising and public relations when she came on board full-time with the company.
